Job Description
Job Title: Production Controller
Location: Gloucester
Duration: 18 months
Pay: £21.50 Umbrella or £16.50 PAYE + Hol
Role Summary
The production controller will convert the MPS master schedule from planning into an executable production plan for the shop floor. Working in the 13-week window the production controller will work along side the production cell teams to solving problems to deliver on time to our customers. They will set and maintain the plan according to know material and other constraints and hold the production team accountable to this plan and highlight any forthcoming constraints.
Essential Responsibilities
- Convert the MPS master schedule into a production plan at all levels of the BOM
- Coordinate and expedite flow of materials according to production schedules
- Understanding manpower constraints, process/machine capacity & yield issues
- Responsible for release of works orders to the shop floor
- Drive improvements through standard WIP analysis and lead time analysis
- Continued focus on driving teams to achieve work order on time book to stock
- Responsible for providing planned completion dates
- Work cross functionally to balance supply and demand to internal and external customers
- Creation and tracking of critical recovery plans
- Communicate status of the plan to all levels of the business
- Ability to balance a range of critical KPI’s to drive the right outcomes for the customer and business
- Optimise process improvements, support documentation of standard work and implement lean methodology to drive continuous improvement throughout
Qualifications/Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or college, or equivalent knowledge and experience in supply chain operations
- Relevant experience in Materials/Production Planning and Execution
- MS Office Packages – Specifically MS Excel
Desired Characteristics
- Strong system knowledge of Oracle ERP or another ERP system
- Knowledge and experience of production planning and scheduling
- Lean & Continuous improvement training or equivalent experience is preferred
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities
- Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Proven analytical and organizational ability
- APICS CPIM Certification in Production and Inventory Management
